Meet Miss Elizabeth’s Spouses: Cary Lubetsky and Randy Savage

Elizabeth Ann Hulette, best known to wrestling fans as Miss Elizabeth, remains one of the most iconic figures in the history of professional wrestling.

She gained worldwide fame during her memorable time with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) and later in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where her elegance, poise, and storytelling presence left a lasting mark on the industry.

Born on November 19, 1960, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Miss Elizabeth was raised in a close family by her parents, Mary Ann Sorg and Donald Edward Hulette, alongside her sister, Princess Margaret. She attended Franklin County High School before pursuing higher education at the University of Kentucky, where she earned a degree in communications.

Of American nationality and Christian faith, Elizabeth stood at 5 feet 4 inches (1.63 m) tall. Despite her prominence in the public eye, she led a private personal life away from the ring. She did not have children.

In her relationships, Miss Elizabeth was married twice. Her first marriage was to the legendary wrestler Randy Savage, which lasted from 1984 to 1992. Later, she married Cary Lubetsky, an attorney, from 1997 to 1999. She was also in a well-known relationship with wrestler Lex Luger from 1999 until her untimely death in 2003.

Miss Elizabeth’s combination of beauty, grace, and influence in wrestling storylines made her more than just a manager or on-screen personality—she became a beloved cultural icon.

Randy Savage

Randy Mario Poffo, known to the world as “Macho Man” Randy Savage, was one of the most charismatic and influential professional wrestlers of all time.

Born on November 15, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, Savage was a second-generation wrestler, following in the footsteps of his father, Angelo Poffo, who founded International Championship Wrestling (ICW).

Before wrestling, Savage pursued a career in minor-league baseball, playing as an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals’ organization. However, it was in the squared circle where he truly made his mark.

Savage met Elizabeth Hulette in the early 1980s while working at a gym in Lexington, Kentucky. Their connection was immediate, and they married in 1984.

Elizabeth, who later became known as Miss Elizabeth, joined Savage in the wrestling world, initially working as a TV announcer for ICW before becoming his on-screen manager when he debuted in the WWF in 1985.

Their on-screen chemistry was electric, with Elizabeth’s elegance contrasting Savage’s intense, flamboyant persona. This dynamic captivated audiences and elevated Savage’s career, leading to iconic moments like his WWF World Heavyweight Championship win at WrestleMania IV in 1988 and their storyline wedding at SummerSlam 1991, dubbed the “Match Made in Heaven.”

Their real-life marriage, however, faced challenges. The gruelling travel schedule of professional wrestling, combined with the pressures of fame, took a toll. The couple divorced in 1992, though they continued to work together professionally in WCW during the 1990s, maintaining a cordial relationship.

Elizabeth often spoke highly of Savage, describing him as a close friend even after their split. Savage’s larger-than-life personality and contributions to wrestling earned him a posthumous induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. Tragically, he passed away on May 20, 2011, at age 58, after suffering a heart attack while driving, which led to a car crash.

Cary Lubetsky

Cary Lubetsky, a South Florida attorney, represents a stark contrast to the high-octane world of professional wrestling. Born on Long Island, New York, Lubetsky earned an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a law degree from Tulane University.

By the time he met Elizabeth, he had established himself as a practicing attorney in Miami, working for the law firm Holtzman, Krinzman, Equels, Furia.

Unlike Savage, Lubetsky led a life away from the public eye, and little is known about his personal endeavors beyond his professional accomplishments, adding an air of enigma to his persona.

Elizabeth met Lubetsky in 1992 at the Olympia Gym in Aventura, Florida, through a mutual friend. At the time, she had left the WWF and was working in a new role with an offshore powerboat racing show on ESPN. Their relationship blossomed quickly, and they married in December 1997 at the Cuban Hebrew Temple in Miami Beach.

For Elizabeth, this marriage offered a chance at a more stable, “normal” life. She described her life with Lubetsky as a balance between her wrestling commitments and a grounded home life, enjoying activities like golf and dinners out.

In a 1999 interview, she expressed contentment, saying, “My life right now is better than I ever dreamed it could be. The idea that I have a really nice, wonderful, stable home life with a great family… is incredible.”

However, their marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce in 1999. The reasons for their separation remain private, as Lubetsky has maintained a low profile, and Elizabeth rarely spoke publicly about the split.

After their divorce, Elizabeth returned to WCW on a limited basis, later entering a relationship with wrestler Lex Luger, which ended tragically with her death in 2003 from acute toxicity caused by a mix of painkillers and alcohol.
